CA Aquatics Job Opportunities

Have you thought about a summer job for next year?

The Columbia Association is seeking to hire individuals with a desire to serve the community.   The entry-level positions for the Outdoor Pools are that of lifeguard, party coordinator, and lesson instructor. These positions can be grueling as they entail long hours in the summer sun, maintenance/clean-up work, administrative paperwork, member/guest check-in, lesson instruction and registration, and a whole list of odd jobs around the pool BUT they also allow you to meet other teens in the area, build long-lasting friendships and work for a company that cares about the welfare of its team members.  We are looking for highly motivated, friendly, and outgoing individuals to join our ranks and help continue our tradition of excellence.

We are currently interviewing, recruiting and training for all seasonal and year-round positions.  These include:

·         Lifeguards

·         Lifeguard/Pool Operators

·         Head Lifeguards

·         Assistant Pool Managers

·         Pool Managers

·         Supervisors

·         Swim Team Coaches

·         Lesson Instructors

·         Cashier

A Lifeguard candidate must be 15 years old, mature in judgment, and able to pass a water screening which tests swimming ability. It is important to note that the swimming test is not considered to be especially difficult. You should also know that the Columbia Association would arrange for your lifeguard, CPR, and First Aid training if you were hired.  If your birthday is on or before May 28, 2010, you can interview for a position as a Lifeguard, and you should call the office as soon as possible to schedule a interview. The water screening consists of the following:

                                200-yard swim without resting

2-minutes treading water while holding both arms out of the water

Retrieve a 10 pound diving brick from 12 feet of water and bring it to the surface

All screenings will be held on the first day of class.

A Cashier candidate must be 14 years old, mature in judgment, and want to work in conjunction with the pool guard staff to work the front desk and the snack bar at the Columbia Swim Center.  If you are interested in applying for the position of Cashier with the Columbia Association Aquatics Department.  Please call the office as soon as possible to schedule an interview.

A Lesson Instructor candidate must be 15 years old, mature in judgment, and enjoy working with children.  If you are interested in applying for the position of Lesson Instructor with the Columbia Association Outdoor Pools, you must turn 15 by June 14, 2010.  Please call the office as soon as possible to schedule an interview.
